Legionnaires to converge on nation’s capital to share legislative priorities

American Legion National Commander Vincent J. Troiola’s testimony before a joint session of the House and Senate Committees on Veterans’ Affairs will highlight the 2023 Washington Conference, which will bring Legionnaires from all over the nation and abroad into the nation’s capital Feb. 26-March 1.

Troiola will testify March 1 at 10 a.m. about the Legion’s top priorities for Congress in 2023, including implementation and oversight of the PACT Act, Department of Veterans Affairs modernization, and mental health and suicide prevention.

On Feb. 26 and 27, various American Legion commissions and committees will meet, hearing from staff from the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Department of Defense, and other organizations and agencies.

The following day, during the Commander’s Call, conference attendees will receive briefings from members of Congress, VA staff, the military and Oksana Markarova, the Ukraine ambassador to the United States.

Following the Commander’s Call, American Legion Family members will head to Capitol Hill to meet with their representatives and senators, sharing the Legion’s top priorities this year for Congress.
