Meeting was called to Order at 10:01 a.m. by Chairman Babel

Approve Minutes

Committee reviewed minutes from the October 12, 2022 Tourism Committee meetings. Chairman Babel moved to approve minutes as presented, second by Alderman Wangelin, motion carried

Updates

A. Diane Bausman presented her report for Blackhawk Waterway

B. Bethany Bland reported on Chamber of Commerce upcoming activities.

C. Tourism Director

✓ Tracy Finch reported on the first Halloween House Decorating Contest - 9 homes entered, and 400 votes were cast.

✓ Tracy Finch reported on the 2nd Annual Home Decorating Contest for Christmas - 12 homes entered, and 400 votes were cast.

✓ Director Jones reported on the Governor's conference and

the take aways that she will be applying.

✓ 2023 Sponsorship Campaign - sponsors are actively sending in their sponsorships for the 2023 event season.

✓ 2023-2024 Visitors Guide is being finalized. It is due by February 8th and will be published and available by April.

✓ Flock to Rock will be held February 11, 2023 at the lower dam.

D. Grants - Committee reviewed Rock Falls High School's application for Percussion Palooza - A motion was made by Brian Tribley to grant the requested $300 to Percussion Palooza, second by Bethany Bland, motion carried..

New Business

A. Committee reviewed 2023 Event Calendar.

B. Director Jones presented the proposal to increase the sculpture stipend for artist from $1,000 to $1,250. A motion was made by Chairman Babel to increase the stipend to $1,250 for sculpture artist, second by Alderman Wangelin, motion carried.

C. Director Jones presented the proposal from Phil Mattox for a permanent sculpture that would be donated to the City. A motion was made by Chairman Babel to accept Mr. Mattox's proposal, second by Member Henry, motion carried.

Committee Member Items

Tom Henry from Coloma Township Park District said that the holiday light at Centennial Park was a great success this year even with having to shut down early due to extreme weather. The park district grossed $4,400 in donations which was up by $1,100 over last year.

Administrator Blackert updated the committee on the progress and schedule for the completion of the public restroom facility at RB&W District Park.

Meeting adjourned at 11:10 a.m..
