In a March 24 Facebook post, Rep. Tony McCombie (R-Savanna) announced her office's third annual spring photo contest.
"SPRING PHOTO CONTEST! This year’s contest will be no different than years past: participants will be asked to submit a photo that best represents the people and places of the 89th District—including any statues and monuments," McCombie wrote. "The winning photo from each category (people, places, and monuments) will be displayed in Rep. McCombie’s Springfield and Savanna offices."
In 2016, McCombie was elected to represent the 71st District. After redistricting, McCombie is now representing the 89th District.
"I love our communities here in the 89th District, and while much of it is new territory due to legislative redistricting, that makes for an even more exciting photo contest this year," McCombie wrote.
In order to participate, entrants are required to follow the contest rules. Photos must be in the 89th District and be submitted by email to mccombiephotocontest@gmail.com. In addition, photos must have been taken from March-May 2023.
All photographs are required to be submitted in high resolution. The photographer’s name, home address, email, phone number, and where the photograph was taken must be included in the email submission.
Participants must make their submissions by the deadline of June 1. The winners will be announced on June 21.
A map of the reconfigured 89th District is available here.
"I am looking forward to seeing each corner of the 'new' district through the lens of local residents," McCombie said. "Springtime brings out the most beautiful scenery and I can’t wait to see that shine through in each photo."
McCombie is a lifelong resident of Savanna who earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Western Illinois University.
McCombie is the owner and operator of Blue Appraisals. She is a real estate broker with MelFoster Company. She has also served as mayor of Savanna and as a member of the Savanna City Council.
