Q4 2021 Recap: 2 parolees from Ogle County convicted of sex crimes set for release

There were two offenders convicted of sex crimes living in Ogle County released on parole during the fourth quarter of 2021, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the NW Illinois News.

The data shows both of the released offenders among the parolees were men. The median age of the parolees sentenced for sex crimes was 32. One parolee was a 32-year-old man sentenced in 2020, and the oldest was a 32-year-old man sentenced in 2016.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Byron A. Garcia. He was convicted in 2016 when he was 25 years old. He is now 32.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.

The following table shows how many offenders convicted of sex crimes were paroled during the fourth quarter of 2021 in each Illinois county.
