The local community is invited to gather for a warm and welcoming breakfast meeting on Oct. 28 hosted at A’s Kitchen in Rock Falls.

The event offers an opportunity for community members to get to know Chris Bishop, a GOP State Senate candidate for the 37th State Senate District.

“Happy Fall Y’all! This month at our meeting, warm up with a delicious breakfast, and steaming hot coffee!” Kristol Anderson said on Facebook. “That’s October 28th at A’s Kitchen in Rock Falls IL. It is our pleasure to have Chris Bishop of Dixon IL, State Senate of the 37th district candidate with us. He will share his background, concerns, and ideas for our area.”

“Chris is a Councilman and has helped in the expansion growth for Dixon. He currently is a grain marketing representative for AgPerspective, and formly a teacher and a wrestling coach! Chris Bishop is involved with various community organizations.”

“Come meet and greet this motivated young man. We look forward to hearing his presentation and feel free to ask questions after he shares his goals for district 37 with us. October 28th at 8:30 a.m. at A’s Kitchen in Rock Falls IL. Looking forward to seeing you there!”

Bishop announced his candidacy in late September.

“I’m looking forward to bringing common sense back to Springfield,” he said at the time.

Bishop is a Dixon native, where he spent over a decade as a teacher and high school wrestling coach in Dixon Public Schools. He holds a master’s degree in kinesiology and now works in the private sector as a grain marketing and crop insurance representative.

“Chris got involved in politics back in 2015 after the City of Dixon faced the largest municipal fraud case in US history,” Bishop’s website reads. “He was part of the city council that oversaw the change in government to the current city manager form and hired Dixon’s first city manager. Currently, he is in his 2nd term on the Dixon City Council.”

“Chris is an official that believes in upholding the Constitution, supporting first responders, building fiscal responsibility, maintaining/upgrading infrastructure, nurturing economic development, and ensuring a quality education for students. He aims to take his common sense approach to Springfield and represent the needs of the 37th District at the state level.”

The 37th State Senate District includes Lee, Bureau, Henry, DeKalb, Ogle, Rock Island, Whiteside, Stark, Peoria, Woodford and Marshall counties. It is currently represented by State Sen. Win Stoller (R-Germantown Hills) who announced in August he would not be seeking a third term.
