Senator Andrew Chesney Hosts Successful Pet Rescue Event

Senator Andrew Chesney recently partnered with the Friends Forever Humane Society in Freeport for a Pet Rescue Fair. Illinois Farm Bureau Selects New President

Brian Duncan, an Ogle County livestock and grain farmer, has been selected as the President of the Illinois Farm Bureau for 2024. Duncan, who previously served as the organization's vice president, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the role. He has also held positions on various agricultural committees and boards, including the American Farm Bureau Federation's Swine Advisory Committee and the National Pork Producers Council Price Discovery Task Force. The selection of Duncan as the new president reflects the Illinois Farm Bureau's commitment to supporting and representing the state's farming community.

Recreational Trail Projects Receive Funding

Various recreational trail development projects across Illinois have been awarded a total of $3.7 million in funding. The grants, provided by the Illinois Greenways and Trails Council, will support the enhancement and maintenance of local trails. One of the recommended projects is the Jane Addams Trail improvements, which will receive a $200,000 allocation from the Freeport Park District. The funding will help meet the increasing demand for improved trails and outdoor recreation facilities in the state. Local grant recipients can receive up to 80 percent reimbursement for the cost of their trail projects, including land acquisition, construction, equipment purchase, and restoration.

Forreston Police Department Hosts "Shop with a Cop" Event

The Forreston Police Department recently partnered with area kids for the annual "Shop with a Cop" event at the Freeport Farm & Fleet. This heartwarming program connects children with officers who accompany them on a shopping trip. The children receive essential items like clothing, socks, gloves, and boots, as well as toys and sporting goods.
