Jo Daviess County responsible for 48th-highest sales tax revenue in Illinois during January

Jo Daviess County taxpayers paid the 48th largest sum in sales taxes in January, according to Illinois tax records.

In total, Jo Daviess County residents paid $421,867 in sales taxes during January.

Jo Daviess County ranked 45th in the Prairie State the month before, with $407,105 spent in sales taxes.

The County School Facility Tax accounted for the largest share of sales taxes paid by Jo Daviess County residents in January.

Illinois is currently the highest taxed state in the US. A study from Wallet Hub found Illinois taxes are 39.83% higher than the national average.

Illinois governor J. B. Pritzker is accused of adding more than $5.2 billion in new or higher taxes since coming into power in early 2019. As a business owner, he has a fortune of more than $3 billion, largely based on his family's wealth and connections.
