Illinois State Senator Andrew Chesney has announced the launch of his first annual "Valentines for Seniors" card drive. The initiative aims to bring joy and show appreciation to the elderly in the community by delivering homemade cards to assisted living centers, nursing homes, and long-term care facilities across the 45th Senate District.
"Seniors are a special part of our community, and this card drive will show them they are appreciated and that we're thinking of them," said Senator Chesney. He is calling on students from public and private schools, church groups, scouting organizations, and other community groups to create homemade cards, poems, and well-wishes for the seniors.
Senator Chesney's Freeport office will serve as the collection point for the cards, poems, and other well-wishes. The office, located at 50 W. Douglas Street, Suite 1001, Freeport, IL, 60132, will be open between the hours of 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday, to receive contributions.
Expressing his hopes for the project, Senator Chesney said, "I hope we have a tremendous response to the project and are able to bring a great deal of joy to seniors living in assisted and nursing home settings throughout the 45th District."
