House Minority Leader Tony McCombie addressed a large crowd at the March for Life event held at and around the capitol today. The rally, which saw the participation of McCombie's House and Senate Republican colleagues, as well as thousands of advocates from across Illinois, focused on the theme of supporting life.
During her remarks, McCombie emphasized the importance of unity and collective action, stating, “We need to unite and fight back together on the extremes.” She expressed concerns about the shift in the Democratic stance on abortion, noting that they are no longer advocating for abortions to be safe, legal, and rare but are now pushing for more extreme measures.
Specifically, McCombie highlighted the actions of Illinois Democrats regarding abortion, stating, “Illinois Democrats have passed and allowed for abortions up until the moment of birth, taking parents out of counsel and decision making, and putting taxpayers on the hook.”
The March for Life event provided a platform for advocates to voice their support for pro-life initiatives and policies, with McCombie and her colleagues rallying for a united front against what they perceive as extreme measures related to abortion in the state.
