On May 29th, at nearly 5:00 AM, the Illinois House of Representatives concluded its spring session. Representative Bradley J. Fritts criticized the timing and process of passing the FY25 budget, describing it as a $53.1 billion plan enacted under questionable circumstances.

"In my opinion, all of the work we do as legislators should be completely transparent and easily accessible to the public," Fritts stated. He condemned passing such a significant budget while constituents were asleep, calling it "a shameful way to keep voters (literally) in the dark on an unbalanced budget." The FY25 budget includes $1 billion in tax hikes and another $1 billion allocated for non-citizen programs.

Fritts argued that these priorities reflect poor public policy. "Our Illinois taxpayers and families are suffocating," he said. "Raising taxes in order to cover a self-made migrant crisis is the epitome of poor public policy."

Despite his criticisms, Fritts promised residents of the 74th District that he would continue advocating for a fiscally responsible budget that prioritizes Illinoisans first.

In addition to legislative updates, Fritts announced several upcoming events:

- Coffee & Conversation on June 20 at Sunset Inn Restaurant in Amboy and July 10 at Garden View Family Restaurant in Polo.

- Traveling Office Hours on June 13 at Paw Paw Public Library and July 11 at Mendota Chamber of Commerce.

For his June local business highlight, Fritts chose Rooney’s in Franklin Grove due to their commitment to family values and community involvement. Founded by John and Amy Lauer in 2019, Rooney’s integrates old aspects of its building into new designs while supporting charitable causes like helping children facing homelessness or battling cancer.

John and Amy aimed to create an environment where customers feel safe and supported. According to Fritts, they have succeeded in this mission.

Community outreach efforts included speaking at a press conference about Safe Route to School grants awarded in Mendota for sidewalk updates. His staff attended Rochelle Chamber of Commerce's annual dinner recognizing exemplary members.

Fritts also reported positive engagement during recent events such as a shred event with Self Help in Sterling and his first Summer Tour event at Lincoln Way Cafe. Additionally, he toured 7:24 Fitness on the Rock with owner Nick Pepper discussing support for local businesses.

To stay updated on Representative Bradley J. Fritts' activities or contact his office, constituents can visit his website or follow him on Facebook.

"Talk to you soon," signed off State Representative Bradley J. Fritts.
