House Minority Leader Tony McCombie’s summer reading program is currently in progress, with a few weeks remaining before the deadline. McCombie is urging students to continue their reading efforts. The 8th Annual Summer Reading Club for elementary school students residing or attending school in the 89th District aims to foster positive reading habits during the summer months.

“I am excited to again offer a summer reading program to encourage and challenge students to keep up their reading while away from school,” said McCombie. “Summer break is fun, but it can also be a great time to learn and connect with family and friends over stories you read, and I encourage students to participate this year!”

The Reading BUZZ initiative challenges elementary school students to read eight books by July 15th. Sign-up sheets have been distributed to schools and local libraries, with an electronic copy available online.

Participation in this program can coincide with other summer reading programs offered by area libraries, schools, or organizations. Participants will receive a special treat as a reward for their reading efforts and a certificate from the Illinois House of Representatives. To participate, parents or guardians must complete and sign the form and return it to Rep. McCombie’s office by July 15th at: 9317B IL Rt 84, Savanna, IL 61074.

For further inquiries, contact Representative McCombie’s district office at 815-291-8989.
