Rep. Bradley J. Fritts announces school supply drive and senior health fair

State Representative Bradley J. Fritts has announced several community initiatives and events aimed at supporting local families, seniors, and students in Illinois.

Rep. Fritts is hosting his second annual school supply drive from July 17 to July 31 to assist families struggling with the rising cost of living. Supplies can be dropped off at various locations including Amboy Food and Liquor, Clinton Township Public Library, County Financial, Dixon Main Street, Extreme Image Salon, Franklin Grove Public Library, Mendota Chamber of Commerce, Olivers Corner Market, Rep. Fritts’ District Office, Rochelle Chamber of Commerce, Sauk Valley Area Chamber of Commerce, and Sauk Valley Community College.

"Let’s come together as a community to help our students succeed!" said Rep. Fritts.

Additionally, a free Senior Health Fair will be held on Thursday, July 18 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at DeKalb High School. The fair aims to provide resources for seniors on saving money and improving health through free screenings and information from various vendors.

"I encourage all local seniors to come out for our free senior health fair! There is always more that can be done to benefit our senior community," stated Rep. Fritts.

Rep. Fritts also announced upcoming "Coffee & Conversation" sessions scheduled for July 17 in Rochelle at Sunrise Family Restaurant and August 7 in Sterling at Maple City Pancake House. Additionally, traveling office hours will take place on July 25 in Malta Township Public Library and Creston-Dement Library; August 13 sessions will be held at Rock Falls Chamber of Commerce and Sauk Valley Area Chamber of Commerce.

In recent outreach activities, Rep. Fritts attended an open house at the new OSF Life Flight Hangar in Whiteside County and participated in a joint Coffee & Conversation event with Leader Tony McCombie. He also toured Chicago State University as part of his role on the Higher Education Appropriations Committee.

"The Dixon Park District has officially been approved to host a solar field on their land," noted Rep. Fritts regarding one of his legislative achievements with HB 2963 which facilitates solar development on park property.

He also celebrated the opening of the Rural Mini Food Center by Ogle County Health Department and Teen Turf which provides continuous access to food for those in need.
