The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) has commenced construction on two significant projects starting today, Wednesday, July 24. The projects include work on Illinois 2 over Mill Creek near Byron in Ogle County and on Illinois 64 (Washington Street) in Oregon, spanning from west of Illinois Street to First Street.

In Byron, the construction involves replacing bridge joints and repairing the bridge deck. Traffic will be reduced to one lane within the work zone and controlled by temporary traffic signals. This project is projected to conclude by the end of September.

In Oregon, the construction will involve milling, patching, and paving the road. Daily lane closures with flaggers are anticipated, with completion expected by mid-September.

House Minority Leader Tony McCombie advised area residents to remain cautious: "Take care, drive slowly, and expect delays!"
