Water safety advice from CDC emphasizes constant supervision

This summer, as many people spend time in and around water, it is essential to keep important water safety tips in mind. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), drowning is the leading cause of death for children ages 1 to 4 and the second leading cause of unintentional injury death for children ages 5 to 14. For every child who dies from drowning, another seven receive emergency department care for non-fatal submersion injuries.

Constant supervision is key to preventing accidental childhood drownings. The following tips can help keep children safe around water this summer:
