City of Rochelle Golf Course Advisory Committee met July 29.
Here are the minutes provided by the committee:
The meeting was called to order at 11:00 AM. Members present were Dennis Stewart, Bob Johns, Don Geralds, Lance Charnock and Mark Gillis. Also present were Mitch Hamiton, John Bearrows and Mickey Crystal.
∙ Roll Call
∙ Approve minutes of last meeting: June 2024 minutes were approved. Motion to approve by Bob Johns, seconded by Lance Charnock. Motion carried 5-0.
∙ Public Comments: Mickey Crystal has asked if the Fairways Championship could be renamed the Dennis Berg Memorial Championship. We will contact the family to see if they approve.
∙ Financial Report—Mitch Hamilton: The total equity and surplus as of June 30th, 2024, was $52,685. Motion to accept report made by Bob Johns and seconded by Lance Charnock. Motion carried 5-0.
∙ Golf Course Superintendent Report – Mitch Hamilton:
1. Rounds played as of June 30th, 2024- 7,680 vs. June 2023- 6,945. An increase of 735 rounds.
2. The golf course cleanup continues after windstorms.
3. Restrooms at the 4thand 6th Tee Area have been opened.
4. Work on #4 and #6 tee box complex continues. Sod to be delivered August 8th.
5. Signage has been added to all carts pertaining to golf course etiquette. Signs have been added at the 8th and 10th Tee Boxes to remind players of ordering or returning to play after eating.
6. All known irrigation issues have been repaired. New issues at #’s 7, 12, 18 are being addressed. Head on #10 fairway to be removed.
7. Playdays scheduled: August 3rd & 4th, Club Championship. Tuesday August 6th Fritts Outing, Friday August 9th Focus House, Saturday August 10th Fat Cats, Friday August 23rd Maplehurst Employee, Saturday August 24th Luna.
A motion to accept the report was made by Bob Johns and seconded by Lance Charnock. Motion carried 5-0.

∙ Committee Members Reports/Concerns: Mitch Hamilton will be in contact with the City to discuss insurance deductibles.
∙ Date and Time for next meeting: August 19th, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Fairways Pro Shop.

Motion to adjourn by Don Geralds and seconded by Lance Charnock. The meeting adjourned at 11:42 AM. Motion passed 5-0.
