City of Rochelle Golf Course Advisory Committee met Aug. 19.
Here are the minutes provided by the committee:
The meeting was called to order at 11:00 AM. Members present were Dennis Stewart, Bob Johns, Don Geralds, Lance Charnock. Absent; Mark Gillis. Also present was Maureen Stevens.
Roll Call
Approve minutes of last meeting: July 2024 minutes were approved. Motion to approve by Bob Johns, seconded by Lance Charnock. Motion carried 4-0.
Public Comments: None
Financial Report—Mitch Hamilton: Financials were unavailable at the time of meeting. A motion to table the financials was offered by Lance Charnock and seconded by Bob Johns. Motion carried 4-0
Golf Course Superintendent Report – Mitch Hamilton:
a. Rounds played as of July 31st, 2024- 10,427 vs. July 2023- 9,961. An increase of 466 rounds.
b. The golf course cleanup continues after windstorms. Branches have been removed and clean up of grasses at the base of trees has begun. Stump removal to be scheduled.
c. Work on #4 and #6 tee box complex continues. Sod has been laid and irrigation continues.
d. Cart path improvements have begun. Cart paths around 4 & 6 tee box to begin in the fall.
e. Play days scheduled: August 23rd Maplehurst Employee, August 24th Luna, September 8th St. Paul, Sept 9th Rochelle Hospital. Sept 13th Kishwaukee College tournament. Sept 26th, Special Olympics.
f. A motion to accept the report was made by Bob Johns and seconded by Lance Charnock.
Motion carried 4-0.
Business Items: None
Committee Members Reports/Concerns: Committee is concerned with the future of the old tennis courts. Possible Pickel Ball courts or surfaced and striped for parking. Discussion of a warmup area near the practice putting green with a possibility of two bays.

Adjournment: Motion to adjourn by Dennis Stewart and seconded by Bob Johns. The meeting adjourned at 11:19 AM. Motion passed 4-0.
