In our pursuit of transparency and accountability, we requested a list of all council members with specific details. The information sought includes the name, title, year appointed, term length (2 or 4 years), and term expiration date for each council member.
As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, access to such public records is crucial for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. This includes holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
We believe that as a media professional disseminating information to the public, we are eligible for a fee waiver under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act.
