State Representative Bradley Fritts has recognized Ziggie’s Family Restaurant in Mendota as his October 2024 local business highlight. During a visit to the restaurant, Rep. Fritts presented the owners with a certificate of appreciation for their contributions to the community.

“This month, I chose to honor Ziggie’s Family Restaurant because of their hard work and dedication to helping others,” said Rep. Fritts. “Ziggie’s is a staple in our community, and they do so much to give back.”

The restaurant, a third-generation family-owned business, was first founded in 1972 by Ziggie. In 1984, it was purchased by his nephew Musa Zendeli and later passed down to current owner Benny and his wife Vjolca in 2015.

Rep. Fritts acknowledged the challenges faced by small businesses during difficult times like the COVID-19 pandemic. “It is no easy task to run a small, family-owned restaurant," he said. "I commend Benny and Vjolca for their commitment to Ziggie’s and for their continued contributions to our community." He highlighted their involvement with local organizations such as the chamber of commerce and Boy and Girl Scout troops, as well as providing meals during emergencies like the Mendota fires.

Ziggie’s Family Restaurant is located at 1212 1st Avenue in Mendota. More information can be found on their website at ZiggiesRestaurant.com.
