FOIA Request to City of Polo Regarding Building Permits on October 30, 2024.
A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the City of Polo, Illinois by NW Illinois News. The request, dated October 30, 2024, seeks detailed information about both new and active residential and commercial building permits issued from January 1, 2023 till the present date.
As a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at NW Illinois News are interested in obtaining specific fields related to these permits. For new permits, these fields include the type of permit, date issued, fee paid, requester's name, address where the work is being done and contractor's name. Similarly for active permits, we have requested for their current status along with the aforementioned details.
We believe that access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. We have therefore requested a fee waiver as a media professional.
