FOIA Request to City of Byron Regarding Building Permits on October 30, 2024.
At NW Illinois News, we have submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the City of Byron. Our request pertains to all new residential and commercial building permits issued from January 1, 2023, until the present date. The specific fields we are interested in include the type of permit, date issued, fee paid, requester's name, address and contractor's name.
Additionally, we have also requested information about all active residential and commercial building permits along with their current status. The same fields as mentioned above are sought for these active permits.
As a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, access to public records is essential for us at NW Illinois News. It enables us to fulfill our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
We believe that given our role in disseminating information to the public, we should be eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional. We eagerly await the City of Byron's response and cooperation in this matter.
