FOIA Request to City of Lanark Regarding Building Permits on October 30, 2024.
As part of our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at NW Illinois News have submitted a request under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140) to the City of Lanark.
Our request pertains specifically to new residential and commercial building permits issued from January 1, 2023, till today's date. We are seeking detailed information including the type of permit, date issued, fee paid, requester details, address associated with the permit, and contractor name.
In addition to this, we have also requested a list of all active residential and commercial building permits along with their current status. The fields requested for these active permits mirror those sought for the new permits.
Access to public records is vital in our role as media professionals. It allows us to hold public institutions accountable and ensure transparency for the public. As such, we believe that we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional under the provisions of the Illinois Freedom of Information Act.
