A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was submitted to the City Of Fulton on October 30, 2024. The request was made by us at NW Illinois News, a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.
The request sought access to records of all new residential and commercial building permits issued from January 1, 2023, up until the present date. Specifically, we asked for details such as the type of permit, date issued, fee paid, requester's name, address of the property, and contractor's name.
In addition to this, we also requested a list of all active residential and commercial building permits along with their current status. The same fields as mentioned above were requested for these active permits.
As part of our mission at NW Illinois News to hold public institutions accountable and provide transparency to the public, access to these public records is essential. We believe that being members of the media makes us eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals in our quest for disseminating information.
We await a response from the City Of Fulton regarding this FOIA request.
