Prairie State sales taxes: Jo Daviess County residents paid 42nd-largest sum in October 2024

Jo Daviess County taxpayers paid the 42nd largest sum in sales taxes in October 2024, according to Illinois tax records.

In total, Jo Daviess County residents paid $422,712 in sales taxes during October 2024.

Jo Daviess County also ranked 42nd in the Prairie State the month before, with $442,744 spent in sales taxes.

The County School Facility Tax accounted for the largest share of sales taxes paid by Jo Daviess County residents in October 2024.

As of 2021, Illinois was the highest taxed state in the US. A study from Wallet Hub found Illinois taxes were 39.83% higher than the national average.
