City of Lanark City Council met Jan. 7.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

MEETING CALLED TO ORDER/ROLL CALL-Lanark City Council met in regular session at the Lanark City Hall at 7 p.m. Roll call taken by Marilyn Heller, City Clerk, showed Alderpersons present were Brad Knutti, Ethan Lartz, Justin Rausch, and Lynn Collins. Alderperson Haley Grim was absent.

Mayor Mark Macomber was present and presiding.

Others present were: Trevor Knutti, Sue Appel, Clerk Marilyn Heller, Treasurer Deb Throop, Attorney Ed Mitchell, Officer Zach Plum, and Chief Troy Randall.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE-was led by Chief Troy Randall.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES-MOTION-was made by Alderperson Mark Macomber and seconded by Alderperson Brad Knutti to accept the minutes of the December 17, 2024 meeting as presented. Motion carried by 4 aye votes and 1 abstain. Aye votes: Alderpersons Lynn Collins, Justin Rausch, Brad Knutti, Ethan Lartz, and Mark Macomber. Alderperson Haley Grim was absent.

PUBLIC COMMENTS- None

TIF APPEL – POSSIBLE ACTION – Sue Appel shared an update on her TIP contract as the work has not been completed. The contract date is until 6/18/2025 and she would need to reapply if work is not completed by that date.

DELINQUANT UTILITIES – POSSIBLE ACTION - Clerk presented the shut off list for Feb. 4th, 2025, showing 17 notices sent. No Action Taken.

457B RETIREMENT – POSSIBLE ACTION – Alderperson Justin reviewed the meeting with the Document Planner, emphasizing that the council still needs to determine the matching percentage and establish clear definitions for full-time and part-time employees in the handbook. The planned start date is set for April 1, 2025. No Action Taken, Tabled

STANDING COMMITTEES AND BOARDS-POSSIBLE ACTION- Streets and Property Committee and Ordinance Committee are holding a combined meeting Thursday January 9, 2025 at 5pm.

REPORTS-EMPLOYEES, ATTORNEY, CLERK, TREASURER, ALDERPERSONS AND MAYOR- Chief Troy Randall – Dec 28 officer Hermes resigned as he took a new position in Fulton. Chief Randall publicly thanked him for his work. Officer Zach Plum has passed the police academy and received her certificate and has started working with Chief Randall. The council congratulated

Officer Plum and welcomed him abord! Attorney Ed Mitchelle – filled two liens and removed one. Alderperson Ethan – is holding Community Project Committee Jan. 28th at 6pm at City Hall. Alderperson Brad Knutti – complemented Deb for helping his mother get her bill figured for the year. Mayor Mark Macomber – City Hall Christmas party is this Sunday at 5pm. He also shared an update on the library hours are covered with Janie being out.

ADJOURNMENT-MOTION-was made by Alderperson Brad Knutti and seconded by Alderperson Mark Macomber to adjourn at 7:53p.m. Motion carried by 5 voiced aye votes.
