A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was submitted to the Lee County Il Clerk Election Division on February 5, 2025. The request, sent by NW Illinois News, sought detailed information about the candidates running in the upcoming election.
In our pursuit of comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we asked for a list of all candidates participating in the forthcoming election. Specifically, we requested the candidates' full names, the offices they are running for, their jurisdiction, and party affiliation.
Additionally, we requested all contact information for each candidate. This includes their address, phone number, and email address. As members of the media engaged in gathering and reporting news to the public, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act.
