Illinois House Minority Leader Tony McCombie has responded to Governor JB Pritzker's State of the State and Budget Address delivered to the General Assembly. In her statement, McCombie criticized the proposed budget for increasing spending by $2 billion while concealing a $3.2 billion deficit.

"I promised at the start of the year that House Republicans would expose and oppose poor public policy, and this budget proposal is just that," McCombie stated. She expressed concern that the budget could lead to a potential tax hike on May 31, which she believes would not help grow Illinois' tax base but instead continue to "punish businesses and hardworking Illinoisans."

McCombie emphasized the need for an honest and transparent government for Illinois families, suggesting that the current proposal falls short of these expectations.
