Senator Andrew Chesney recently filed Senate Bill 1203, aiming to repeal the TRUST Act. The bill seeks to prevent any governmental unit from creating rules that hinder the enforcement of federal immigration laws. Chesney criticized Governor Pritzker's policies, stating, "Governor Pritzker isn’t protecting families, he’s protecting criminals."

In other developments, Chesney hosted an IPASS on Demand event in South Beloit. The initiative facilitates a transition from plastic transponders to sticker technology for tollway users. "There is no fee for switching over to the sticker technology," noted Chesney.

Additionally, the deadline for the Valentines for Seniors program is approaching on February 7. Participants can send valentines to seniors in assisted living centers across the 45th District.

A report by the American Legislative Exchange Council ranked Illinois 38th nationally in education freedom. The state received a "D" grade due to ending the Invest in Kids program but earned an "A" for homeschooling support. Chesney advocated for a new initiative similar to Invest in Kids.

Illinois continues to face economic challenges with high unemployment and slow job growth. In December, Illinois had a 5.2% unemployment rate, higher than most states except California and Nevada. The state added jobs but lagged behind national growth rates. Comprehensive tax reform and fiscal responsibility are deemed essential for improving Illinois' economic situation.
