Illinois House Republican Leader Tony McCombie has voiced strong opposition to HB2827, a bill proposing new regulations on homeschooling in Illinois. The legislation was introduced in the House Education Policy Committee and has now moved to the House Floor for further debate.

Following the committee hearing, McCombie released a statement criticizing the bill. "Today, the Democrat majority silenced over 35,000 advocates who oppose this misguided legislation—a blatant disservice to Illinois families that must not be ignored," he stated.

McCombie argued that lawmakers should focus on addressing significant challenges facing the state rather than creating unnecessary regulations. He described HB2827 as "nothing more than a strategic push for more government control," asserting that it fails to address fundamental issues affecting public education.
