Last week in Springfield, Illinois, State Representative Brad Fritts, a Republican from Dixon, successfully pushed four local initiatives through the Illinois House of Representatives. Rep. House Bill 1911 aims to clarify laws to aid smaller townships and districts in managing the costs associated with annual CPA audits, an issue compounded by the difficulty of finding local firms for such audits. House Bill 2980 focuses on updating the Cycle Rider Safety Training Act to incorporate a modernized approach for providing motorcycle safety classes to residents.
Another bill, House Bill 3148, strives to save consumers money by eliminating extra fees for mailing monthly invoices or bills to a consumer's address. Lastly, House Bill 3238 seeks to offer greater flexibility in how highway commissioners' salaries are managed.
All four pieces of legislation are currently awaiting further consideration in the Illinois Senate.
