After the cancellation of a scheduled Ethics and Elections Committee hearing in the Illinois House, House Minority Leader Tony McCombie expressed disappointment. The hearing was canceled by the Democratic majority, prompting McCombie to issue a statement.

“There was not one ethics hearing this legislative session," McCombie stated. "Given the dozens of proposal House Republicans have put forward, it’s clear House Democrats value political and personal gain over public trust. It’s time to confront corruption, close ethical loopholes, and enforce accountability at every level. Ethics reform cannot be optional.”

The situation highlights ongoing tensions between parties regarding ethics reform within the state legislature.
