"On the second day of deliberation, the Papal conclave selected Chicago-born Robert Prevost to assume the position as leader of the Catholic Church. I am incredibly excited to welcome our new Pope and have immense pride that he is the first ever American Pope, and hails from the great state of Illinois."

Representative Fritts also shared his prayers for the newly named Pope Leo XIV. "This is a momentous day of joy and celebration for Catholics around the world.
