The Illinois Department of Transportation is set to begin road work on Illinois Route 26 in Ogle County starting Tuesday, September 9. The construction will take place between Willow Street in Forreston and Hillside Drive in Polo.

The project will include milling and resurfacing the roadway. Drivers should expect daily lane closures, with traffic being directed by flaggers. The department expects to finish the construction by early July 2026.

Illinois House Minority Leader Tony McCombie called for drivers to be careful in the area. "I am urging caution for local drivers to observe all posted speed limits, avoid the use of mobile devices, and exercise caution around workers and equipment!"

McCombie, a Republican who was elected to the Illinois State House in 2023, represents the state's 89th House District after replacing Andrew Chesney.
