Freeport Athletics reported several outcomes for its high school sports teams on September 22 and 23, 2025, including victories in football and boys varsity golf, as well as a close loss in girls varsity flag football.
On September 22, Freeport Athletics announced via social media that "Football Fresh/Soph defeats Winnebago High School with a final score of 30 - 18." Later the same evening, another update was posted: "Golf Boys Varsity defeats Jefferson with a final score of 166 - 211." In the early hours of September 23, Freeport Athletics shared that "Girls Varsity Flag Football loses to Dekalb with a final score of 6 - 7."
Freeport High School serves students in grades nine through twelve and is located in Freeport within Stephenson County. The school had an enrollment of 1,084 during the 2019-2020 academic year according to the Illinois Report Card (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/). Of these students, grade ten had the highest concentration at 24.2 percent, while grades nine, eleven, and twelve accounted for approximately one-fifth each (Illinois Report Card). The student body is diverse: about half identify as white, nearly a quarter as black, over one-tenth as Hispanic, and just above one percent as Asian (Illinois Report Card).
