Savanna, Illinois native Cameron Jones has been selected by NASA as a member of its 2025 astronaut candidate class. The announcement was made by Illinois House Minority Leader Tony McCombie, who represents the 89th legislative district.
Major Jones is a combat veteran and test pilot in the U.S. Air Force, with assignments at Edwards Air Force Base and Nellis Air Force Base. He has accumulated more than 1,600 hours flying high-performance aircraft. As part of NASA’s ten-member Class of 2025, he will now begin a two-year spaceflight training program.
