The calls in Rock Falls included 77 fires - 44 structure fires, 10 vehicle fires and 21 other fires. The fire department also responded to two calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.
In all, the department saw $493,889 in fire loss - or about $6,414 per fire.
The department also received 103 false calls, including two malicious calls and 101 other false calls.
The calls resulted in five civilian fire-related deaths.
The Rock Falls Firefighters' Pension Fund, which has 13 active employees and 14 retired or inactive employees, was $459,679 in debt as of April 2016, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $5,970 for every fire in 2016.
