Report: Erie spent $19,503 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Erie Community Unit School District 1 is up 43 percent from five years ago, according to a NW Illinois News analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Whiteside County school district spent $13,604 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $19,503 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 687 to 658.

Erie's spending in 2016-17 was 50 percent higher than the state average of $12,973.
