Report: Steward spent $15,008 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Steward Elementary School District 220 is up 14 percent from five years ago, according to a NW Illinois News analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Lee County school district spent $13,115 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $15,008 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 61 to 60.

Steward's spending in 2016-17 was 16 percent higher than the state average of $12,973.
