Ashton Franklin Center Community Unit School District 275 students suspended 38 times in a single school year

Ashton Franklin Center Community Unit School District 275 reported 38 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 38 students during the year. That equates to 7.5 percent of the 507 students enrolled.

Of the 34 in-school suspensions, including 19 elementary or middle schoolers and 15 high schoolers.

The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 32 incidents. There were two incidents of tobacco. For 31 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes four incidents. For four incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.
