Report: Sterling spent $9,579 per student in 2017-18

Spending per pupil at Sterling Community Unit School District 5 is up 0.8 percent from five years ago, according to a NW Illinois News analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2017-18 report card shows the Whiteside County school district spent $9,504 per pupil in 2013-14. It spent $9,579 in 2017-18.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 3434 to 3407.

Sterling's spending in 2017-18 was 28.2 percent lower than the state average of $13,337.
