The price of local government in 2017: Village of Ashton

The Village of Ashton budget was $1.24 million for its 2017 fiscal year, or $2,404 per household.

That's an increase of 10.8 percent from 2016, when the village spent $1.12 million, or $2,170 per household.

Ashton has 517 households and a population of 972.

Since 2001, the Village of Ashton budget has grown by 39.7 percent, from $889,981. The village population has fallen 14.9 percent over the same period, from 1,142.

Salaries accounted for 18.1 percent of village spending in 2017. Ashton property taxpayers paid $224,881 for five full-time employees and 26 part-time employees.
