Jan.-June 2018 Recap: Parolees in Freeport convicted of sex crimes

There were two offenders convicted of sex crimes released on parole in Freeport during the first half of 2018, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the NW Illinois News.

The data shows that both of the released offenders in Freeport were men. The younger parolee was a 34-year-old man sentenced in 2011. The other was a 45-year-old man sentenced in 2005.

The offender who was incarcerated the longest was Michael Meissen. He was convicted of a sex crime in 2005 when he was 31 years old. He is now 45.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.

The table below shows the 50 cities in Illinois with the most paroled offenders during the first half of 2018 who were convicted of sex crimes.
