City of Oregon City Council met Feb. 11.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

The Council of the City of Oregon met 5:30 P.M.

In the City Hall Council Chambers.

Present:                        Mayor Ken Williams

                                     Commissioner Melanie Cozzi

                                     Commissioner Tim Krug

                                     Commissioner Kurt Wilson

                                     City Clerk/Treasurer Charlene Ruthe

                                     Chief Darin DeHaan

                                     City Attorney Paul Chadwick

Absent:                        Commissioner Terry Schuster

Chief Darin DeHaan started the pledge of allegiance.

Public Comment

Jeremy Ciesiel, Ogle County Engineer, forgot to leave his business card with the Council members last Council meeting, in case anyone has questions about any county projects.

Mayor Ken Williams moved to approve hiring Greg Spencer as a Police Officer, Seconded by Commissioner Kurt Wilson.

Roll Call: Cozzi, Krug, Wilson, Williams. No Nays.

Mayor Ken Williams swore in Greg Spencer as a Police Officer.

Commissioner Kurt Wilson moved to approve the January 28, 2020 minutes, Seconded by Commissioner Melanie Cozzi.

Roll Call: Cozzi, Krug, Wilson, Williams. No Nays

Commissioner Kurt Wilson moved to approve the payroll in the amount of $47,450.15 and current warrants as listed:

Commissioner Melanie Cozzi moved to approve Resolution No. 2020-1 Agreement between State and City of Oregon Improvements to Illinois Route 2, Seconded by Commissioner Kurt Wilson.

Discussion: This agreement is for the Route 2 Project to adjust storm sewer manholes.

Roll Call: Cozzi, Krug, Wilson, Williams. No Nays.

Commissioner Melanie Cozzi moved to approve Ordinance No. 2020-100 to amend Section 42-28 of the City Code,  Seconded by Commissioner Kurt Wilson.

Discussion: IEPA request to add language to city code.

Roll Call: Cozzi, Krug, Wilson, Williams. No Nays.

Chief DeHaan thanked the Council for their support in hiring Officer Spencer.

Commissioner Krug announced that the USDA money is available to Mr. Shaffner however Habitat for Humanity is going through changes with their contractor.

Commissioner Kurt Wilson moved to go into executive session to discuss lease of City Property, Seconded by Commissioner Melanie Cozzi.

Roll Call: Cozzi, Krug, Wilson, Williams. No Nays.

Commissioner Kurt Wilson moved to reconvene to regular session, Seconded by Commissioner Tim Krug.

Roll Call: Cozzi, Krug, Wilson, Williams. No Nays.

Commissioner Kurt Wilson moved to adjourn the meeting, Seconded by Commissioner Tim Krug.

Roll Call: Cozzi, Krug, Wilson, Williams. No Nays.
