State Sen. Brian Stewart (R-Freeport) believes that with all of the recent corruption charges, anti-corruption reform needs to happen, so he's started a petition for it, according to a news release.
"In a time when several Illinois Democrat legislators are making headlines for corruption charges, Illinois Senate Republicans have introduced legislation to hold elected officials accountable," states the petition.
The petition outlines Stewarts reform ideas of "implementing a revolving door prohibition so that lawmakers would have to wait at least one year after their term ended to register as a lobbyist," "...updating the Statement of Economic Interest to include disclosure of possible conflicts of interest and not allowing legislators to lobby for other branches of government," and others.

Stewart's petition also lays out that those who leave office should be prohibited from using campaign funds once they've become a lobbyist.
"Ahead of veto session, Senate Republicans urge Democrats to take action on these measures," states the petition.
