Chris Bishop, a candidate for the District 37 State Senate, is extending an invitation to the public for a Meet & Greet event on Thursday, Feb. 1, at The Rusty Fox Alehouse & Wine Bar. The event is being hosted by Jim Wise and Mary Oros with the intention of offering residents of District 37 an opportunity to interact with Bishop, pose questions and discuss pertinent issues.

The Meet & Greet is set to occur between 5 and 6:30 p.m., creating a relaxed environment for attendees to engage with the candidate. The event will be held at Rusty Fox Alehouse situated at 1 E. 3rd St. in Sterling.

Organized by Citizens for Chris Bishop, the event seeks to promote open communication between Bishop and the community. The duration of the Meet & Greet has been scheduled for one hour and thirty minutes, providing sufficient time for attendees to converse with Chris Bishop about various concerns relevant to District 37.

Bishop is currently serving his second term on the Dixon City Council. His initiation into politics was triggered by the City of Dixon’s unfortunate encounter with the largest municipal fraud case in U.S. history in 2015, according to his website. He presently works in the private sector as a grain marketing and crop insurance representative. With a master’s degree in kinesiology, Bishop's political journey stems from his extensive experience as a teacher and high school wrestling coach in Dixon Public Schools where he served for ten years.

The 37th State Senate District encompasses Lee, Bureau, Henry, DeKalb, Ogle, Rock Island, Whiteside, Stark, Peoria, Woodford and Marshall counties. It is presently represented by State Sen. Win Stoller (R-Germantown Hills). According to WGLT news outlet, Stoller announced last August that he would not be seeking a third term.
