Rep. Bradley J. Fritts highlights local business Kelly's; hosts school supply drive

For the July 2024 local business highlight, State Representative Bradley J. Fritts chose to spotlight Kelly’s in Sterling for its commitment to community support and family-friendly dining. Known for its welcoming atmosphere and service, Kelly’s also consistently supports local schools, fundraisers, and auctions.

Kelly’s was originally opened in 1952 as ‘Ed and John’s Flamingo’ by Ed Kelly and John Flock. In 1981, ownership passed to Sally Kelly and Nancy Kelly McDonnell, Ed’s daughter. Located at 218 Locust Street in Sterling, more information about the establishment can be found at Kellysinc.com.

Rep. Fritts is also hosting his second annual school supply drive from July 17th to July 31st to assist families struggling with the rising cost of living. Supplies can be dropped off at various locations including Amboy Food and Liquor, Clinton Township Public Library, County Financial, Dixon Main Street, Extreme Image Salon, Franklin Grove Public Library, Mendota Chamber of Commerce, Olivers Corner Market, Rep. Fritts’ District Office, Rochelle Chamber of Commerce, Sauk Valley Area Chamber of Commerce, and Sauk Valley Community College.

Upcoming summer tour events include "Coffee & Conversation" sessions on August 7th at Maple City Pancake House in Sterling; August 20th at A’s Kitchen in Rock Falls; and August 21st at Ziggie’s Family Restaurant in Mendota. Additionally, traveling office hours will be held on August 13th at Rock Falls Chamber of Commerce and Sauk Valley Area Chamber of Commerce; August 15th at Earlville City Building; Waterman Village Hall; and Shabbona Public Works Building.

In recent community outreach efforts, Rep. Fritts attended a meeting in Leland focused on rural economic development and toured Northern Illinois Home Medical Supply in Dixon. He also celebrated the Village of Lee's 150th anniversary and visited the Northern Illinois Center for Independent Living (NICIL) in Sterling.

Other visits included Rock River Hospice & Home in Sterling and Castor Home Nursing in Sterling. Rep. Fritts also toured Curran Contracting with the Illinois Asphalt Pavement Association and Women of Asphalt Illinois.

Rep. Fritts congratulated the Rock River Trail & Horseman Association on their new arena opening in Franklin Grove and attended a ribbon-cutting event for new multi-use pathways along Downtown Dixon's riverfront.

Celebrating National Intern Day on July 27th, Rep. Fritts acknowledged his summer interns JoJo Yeager and Mike Rock for their hard work.
