FOIA Request to City Of Prophetstown Regarding Unpaid Parking Violations on October 28, 2024.

In our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at NW Illinois News have submitted a request under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140) to the City Of Prophetstown. The request was sent electronically on October 28, 2024.

The information sought pertains to all parking violations within the city that remain unpaid. We have specifically asked for a list detailing the name of each offender, their address, the amount due for each violation, the date of violation, and the total amount due.

As a media organization dedicated to gathering and reporting news to the public, access to such public records is essential for us in fulfilling our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.

Given our role in disseminating information to the community at large, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional under provisions of the Illinois Freedom of Information Act.

We await a response from the City Of Prophetstown and will keep our readers updated on any developments regarding this matter.
