FOIA Request to Mount Carroll City Council Regarding Detailed Information on Council Members on October 15, 2024.

As part of our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at NW Illinois News have submitted a request under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140) to the Mount Carroll City Council.

Our request specifically seeks an electronic list of all council members, with fields detailing their names, titles, years of appointment, term lengths (whether two or four years), and term expiry dates.

As a media organization, we are involved in gathering and reporting news to the public. Access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.

We will continue our pursuit of transparency and accountability from public institutions and look forward to sharing this information with our readers once it becomes available. We remain open for any questions or clarifications regarding this request from the Mount Carroll City Council.
