FOIA Request to Prophetstown City Council Regarding Council Members' Information on October 15, 2024.
As part of our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at NW Illinois News have submitted a request for records under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140. The request was sent to the Prophetstown City Council in Illinois and seeks information about all council members.
Specifically, we are seeking a list of all council members with the following fields: Name, Title, Year Appointed, Term (2 or 4 years), and Term Expire Date. We believe that access to this public record is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
As a media organization, we are involved in gathering and reporting news to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we have requested a fee waiver as a media professional.
