A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the City of Oregon regarding unpaid parking violations on October 28, 2024. The request was made by NW Illinois News, a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.
In the request, we sought a list of all parking violations currently unpaid within the city. This includes the name of the offender, their address, the amount due for each violation, the date of the violation, and total due.
As a news organization, we believe in holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. Given our role in disseminating information, we have requested a fee waiver as a media professional.
We are yet to receive any response from the City of Oregon regarding this request. We will continue to follow up and report back with any updates or findings from these records.
