House Minority Leader Tony McCombie has updated constituents in her 89th District on efforts to address Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD), a fatal disease affecting the central nervous system of deer and elk. The disease was first detected in a Boone County deer in 2002, and state management efforts have been ongoing since then, significantly impacting McCombie's legislative district. In response, she has filed a legislative package aimed at creating state-based solutions.

“Input from residents has been the driving force behind my efforts to address Chronic Wasting Disease. Because of this feedback, I have identified legislation that represents our community’s voice and will make significant change,” said McCombie.

Leader McCombie is advancing measures based on strong feedback from residents. Two bills, HB2339 and HB2340, have already progressed and are currently assigned to the Agriculture and Conservation Committee in the Illinois House.

“Our community knows what is best, and I am relying on the voices from local residents to help me forge the path forward and ensure we reach a suitable outcome,” continued McCombie.
